Haldi Doodh (Iced)
Updated: Sep 3

A refreshing, iced twist on the classic haldi doodh, made for beating the summer heat.
Haldi doodh has always been the drink my family reaches for when someone is feeling under the weather, but there is no reason it has to stay a warm, wintery thing. Inspired by an e-book from Hempbuti, I turned the classic golden milk into an iced latte that still carries all the same turmeric goodness, just in a form that actually makes sense on a hot day.
Turmeric, and specifically the curcumin in it, brings real anti-inflammatory benefits, supports immunity, and even helps with cognitive function. I added hemp hearts into this version too, which lend a natural creaminess to the iced milk along with plant based protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and fibre.
This recipe is:
• Vegan & dairy free
• High protein optional
• Refined sugar free
• Made with wholesome, everyday ingredients
Why This Recipe Works
Blending everything together rather than just stirring it in is what makes this latte feel rich and creamy instead of thin and watery. Hemp hearts break down in the blender and give the milk a subtle body, almost like a light froth, while the warming spices, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, and a pinch of black pepper, come through clearly even when served over ice.
• Hemp hearts add creaminess along with protein, omega-3s, and fibre
• Black pepper helps your body absorb the curcumin in turmeric more effectively
• Cardamom and cinnamon balance the earthiness of the turmeric
• Blending instead of stirring gives the latte a smoother, richer texture
• Ready in under 5 minutes, no cooking required
How to Make Haldi Doodh (Overview)

This comes together in 2 simple steps:
1. Blend
Add non-dairy milk, hemp hearts, and the spices to a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Serve
Pour over a glass filled with ice and enjoy immediately.
Tips for Best Results
• Use a high powered blender if you can, so the hemp hearts break down fully for a smooth, creamy texture
• Serve immediately, this is best enjoyed fresh and cold rather than sitting around
• Add a scoop of plant based protein powder if you want to turn this into more of a meal replacement
• Adjust the turmeric and pepper to taste if you prefer a milder flavour
